About Us

ACT was founded in 1985 as a non-profit trade association that believes in the ‘members using members’ philosophy. The association was started by a handful of people who wanted to work with certified, qualified, honest companies focused on construction trade issues in Southern Arizona. We strive to aid our members in providing solutions for problems that arise in the construction trade industry, and we fight for the rights of subcontractors, material suppliers, and service providers. Our growing membership includes firms that are both open shop and union, representing various trade specialties across commercial, residential, and public construction.

A portion of our membership dues are placed back into our community through our partnerships with Home Builders Institute (HBI), a division of the Fred G Acosta Job Corps, Pima Foundation, and Pima Community College. Together we present employment and educational opportunities to the public through the ACT Future Leaders Apprenticeship Program (FLAP). We believe that providing an education in the construction trades for young adults will help secure a better future for Arizona and ACT.

ACT has partnered with Pima County, the City of Tucson, City of South Tucson and Sahuarita to develop the EzPermitting System, which provides a faster and more convenient way to acquire replacement permits for Water Heaters and HVAC units. Throughout the COVID pandemic, this program ensured that contractors could keep up with an increased demand while many government offices had only limited support.

After getting many requests from homeowners for qualified contractors services, we created a free referral website called mytucsoncontractor.com. We are delighted to announce that the site is now fully searchable, allowing visitors to do research and choose a contractor directly. This not only ensures that qualified local contractors are used as often as possible, it also adds another layer of exposure that allows our members to be found more easily online.

We are always looking to expand our network and influence in the communities we serve. We welcome companies interested in joining our organization, who would like to expand their businesses. Please visit our members area for more information, and to submit a membership application for consideration. Question? Suggestion? Please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for your interest in Arizona Construction Trades.
